“How to Soccer in LA”: Member-Created “Get Out the Vote” Video

This week, our CEO Warner Chabot was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from new CLCV member Montana Casey describing an interaction with a CLCV field canvasser in Los Angeles.

As the canvasser described how CLCV is working to elect environmental champions and pass strong environmental legislation, Montana was inspired not only to make a donation, but also to create a promotional video to help spread the word about CLCV’s campaign to “Build a Greener California.”

Montana wrote:

“I was approached by one of the CLCV canvassers in a Trader Joe’s parking lot here in LA (Venice) and was impressed by the thoughtfulness and ideals behind the organization so I decided to make a one time donation… I wanted to help out more, though, and seeing as I work sometimes upwards of 60-80 hours a week, volunteering is out of the question for me. However, what I am able to make time for is personal projects. I decided to make a small PSA [public service announcement] to send out to some friends/colleagues promoting the June 8th vote. I’m not sure if it made any difference but I thought it might be nice for you to see, just to know that your efforts inspire more than just monetary reactions from people.”

Thanks Montana for your unique Los Angeles- and soccer-themed video encouraging friends to help CLCV to “Build a Greener California!” We’re always impressed by the intelligence, creativity and passion of our members. You are truly California’s environmental champions.
