CD 36 Update: Hahn & Huey Advance to Run-Off

May 20, 2011
By Mike Young

Yesterday, Debra Bowen officially conceded the second place spot in the 36th Congressional District run-off to Republican Craig Huey after Huey’s lead grew to 750 votes with only 200 ballots left unaccounted for.

Huey will now officially advance to the July 12th run-off to compete with LA City Councilwoman Janice Hahn. While it’s unfortunate that Bowen will not be heading to Washington, we can take solace in knowing that she will continue to do a fantastic job as California’s Secretary of State.

Our work with this election is still far from over. Following CLCV’s long standing practice, we have offered Mr. Huey the opportunity to respond to CLCV’s questionnaire before making an endorsement in the general election, which will take place on July 12, 2011. Based upon his response and the response we received from Hahn earlier this year, CLCV will move quickly to make a decision and issue an endorsement.

We will support the strongest champion for the environment in this race because the environment deserves a voice in Washington.
