In just a few hours, we're going to testify in Sacramento before a Joint Oversight Hearing on Ensuring Groundwater Protection. Californians have a right to clean drinking water, but our state government is permitting vast quantities of post-drilling waste fluids to be injected into our protected aquifers – it just doesn't add up.

Today, state legislators will wade into this subject at 9:30 AM, and we'll be right there with them. We wanted you to have our full press release on this, which you can find at the bottom of this email. You can also tune in and watch the hearing live on CalChannel starting at 9:30 AM today, March 10.

But before we head over, we have some more news to share: We carried out the first petition delivery to Governor Brown's office. The petition has already been signed by more than 22,000 California residents! CLCV supporters are making a difference in the fight for clean water, and we’re here to make sure your voice is heard.

In addition, several of California's most-trusted community and environmental organizations have officially signed on to support the petition. We're honored to have the opportunity to work with such an outstanding set of organizational partners:

  • California League of Conservation Voters
  • The Center on Race, Poverty, & The Environment
  • Clean Water Action
  • Community Water Center
  • Environmental Working Group
  • Leadership Counsel for Justice & Accountability

That's all for now, but please keep an eye out for our next update – today's hearings will have a huge impact on what we do next. We'll keep you in the loop.
